(see more here: https://sanmigueldc.org/) San Miguel School in DC (a school dedicated to Transforming Lives and Breaking the Cycle of Poverty ) seeks a talented religion (1 class) and English Language Arts teacher. The San Miguel teacher cultivates in our students the critical thinking skills they will need to become leaders and agents of positive change in our world.
Responsibilities :
Plan and implement middle school Language Arts (and potentially religion) lessons based on data Create engaging lessons that develop student critical thinking and problem-solving skills Do whatever it takes to ensure the success of all students Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing feedback, and assessments Provide accommodations and differentiated instruction for the growth and success of all students. Attend all team and staff meetings, including meetings that can extend beyond 5:30 pm, and attend designated school functions outside of school hours. Work with grade level and department teams to address and resolve student issues Arrive at school at 8:00. Stay at school until 5:00 p.m. Monday
  • Thursday and 4:00 p.
m. on Friday Participate in school-wide religious activities Participate in professional development Make him/herself available to students, parents, and other staff members after school hours. Perform necessary duties including but not limited to bus, morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties. Be a positive influence on both staff and students in our community.   • strive to be the change you wish to see in the world Qualifications The following are required of all applicants: A bachelor's degree or higher Demonstrated Mastery of Core Subject Areas Certified by a State Authority to teach at the middle school level (or capacity to be certified) Teaching experience in an urban school environment Excellent written and oral communication skills Pass criminal background check San Miguel Student Day The San Miguel day is from 8:30 am-5:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:30-4:00 on Friday.
Teachers are required to be present at school 30 minutes prior to their first class. Supervision and Evaluation San Miguel teachers are evaluated based on multiple metrics which include peer and student feedback.
