Job Description

Under limited supervision, this position provides instruction to English Language Learning. Classes may include basic and intermediate level ELL, Citizenship, and Computer Literacy.

Two years teaching experience preferred. Secondary Education Certification preferred. Ability to instruct students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to interact effectively with people on phone, via email, and in person. Ability to work with people is essential. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Candidate must exhibit an excellent work ethic, demonstrate a professional attitude, and possess excellent computer literacy skills. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to interpret and handle routine decisions as related to departmental operations. Ability to follow oral and written instructions in detail with accuracy and efficiency. Assist students with ELL coursework in a variety of formats including explicit instruction, online learning, and individual instruction. Plan and participate in student orientation. Maintain and report accurate and timely student records. Provide staff development related to instruction, data entry and assessment. Assist with completion of State of Iowa Adult Education and Literacy program metrics in order to meet program goals. Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work. Maintain confidentiality regarding students and colleagues. Ability to organize and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly. Assume responsibility; deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions. Other duties as may be assigned.
