We currently serve young men in grades K-12 and young ladies in grades K-6 (and growing). Smith Academy is a place that provides strong support for staff members as we all strive to support our students to reach their full potential. In addition to great support, we offer a work environment with a family feel. Teachers are provided with tools and training necessary to be great and are relieved of unnecessary, time-consuming requirements so they can be focused and intentional about helping students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs and goals of students; establish clear objectives for all lessons and units; ensure that lessons are aligned with state and college/university curriculum standards. Develop lesson plans and work cooperatively to learn from feedback and improve quality of instruction. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures; enforce the academy's student discipline code. Collaborate with special education staff to implement accommodations and modifications as indicated in student IEP's. Maintain professional competence. May participate in extracurricular activities such as coaching, tutoring, enrichment activities, etc. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and Dual Credit certification State teacher certification Capability in professionalism, instruction and classroom management
