What they do

An English or Language Arts Teacher teaches English in elementary to secondary schools. Focuses on English, writing, composition, literature, and critical analysis. In elementary school, language arts classes focus on basic reading, writing and linguistic / communication skills. In middle school, the English curriculum evolves and expands to include more complicated reading comprehension, such as fiction, poetry and essays. Job Description

Plato (Edmentum) Teacher
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with students who are behind in credits to catch up and remain on track for graduation.
  • Students will be in class, as if a study hall, where they each will be working on multiple different courses.
  • While the instructor does not need to be strong or know all content from various departments, the ideal candidate will be able to help students by finding information, showing how to use the modules, and assisting as needed.
  • The instructor will be responsible for unlocking Post-Tests and Final Exams and monitoring students as they are taking those exams in class.
  • The instructor will need to move throughout the room, have good classroom management, and be able to have positive relationships with the students.
Plato is used primarily for credit recovery and the students in the class usually will be multiple credits behind where they should be. This position is one of the most important in the building to ensure that our students get across the stage at graduation.
