- Providing direct and indirect instructional support to students
- Planning and carrying out plans to support English language acquisition in the classroom, based on English Learner assessments and needs
- Demonstrating knowledge of the developmental and linguistic levels of students and the different ways these students learn by providing differentiated learning experiences
- Engaging families in discussion of student needs, progress and support
- Anticipating and responding appropriately to conflicts or misunderstandings arising from differences in backgrounds, languages, and identities
- Facility with analyzing data and creating action plans to improve student outcomes
- Supporting other educators in implementing best practices for English learners
- Contributing to the EL team Qualifications
- Bachelor's or higher earned academic degree
- Candidates for EL Teacher position must include evidence of training in the following areas: Knowledge of second language learning, standards-based curriculum, alternative method of assessment
- Familiarity with WIDA English Language Development Standards Assessment of students in/for English Language Learner Program Certification
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education as a Teacher ESL/EL
DESE Certification:
English as a Second Language- SEI Endorsement
- Candidates with demonstrated proficiency in languages other than English are encouraged to apply.
- Salary commiserate with experience
