Yesterday Job Description The Needham Public Schools seeks outstanding applicants for the position of 1.0 FTE Temporary English Teacher at Needham High School. This position will cover all professional responsibilities for a 12-week maternity leave, beginning on or near October 20th and concluding on or near January 19th. Needham Public School District is an inclusive, dynamic, and multicultural community seeking an energetic, skilled, and warm educator to join our team. The successful candidate will plan/teach four sections of English and work collaboratively with members of the English Department to support student learning and growth. Under the general supervision of the English Department Chair, this teacher will be responsible for advancing students' critical reading, thinking, and writing skills and guiding their inquiry of diverse literary artifacts. As a Needham High School educator, this teacher will work collaboratively to integrate the attributes, skills, and knowledge made explicit in the Portrait of a Needham Graduate, emphasizing the preparation of students to become socially and culturally responsive contributors. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, have experience working with and/or teaching high school students, and understand the diverse needs of students at this age. Additionally, candidates who have a collaborative work ethic, training/experience in the use of instructional technology, a commitment to inclusive pedagogy, and the potential to contribute to student life beyond the classroom are strongly encouraged to apply.
Compensation:
Compensation for substitutes is based on the duration of the coverage: $22.40/hr - $26.46/hr (SY6 Rates) The Needham Public School System is a member of METCO, Developing Equity and Achievement for Students (IDEAS), and the Greater Boston School Human Resources Network.
