Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Building Mentor will serve as a resource for beginner teachers in their second year and third year of teaching. The Mentor will be expected to attend several induction program support meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Mentors should:

Demonstrate outstanding, proven teacher whose teaching reflects excellent content knowledge of the state curriculum frameworks

Able to provide documentation of mentor training completion

Have completed at least three years of experience

Be an effective classroom instructor as shown by receiving a rating of at least proficient on recent evaluations.

Demonstrate student gains as a result of proven practice.

Understand Standards of Effective Teaching Practice and Educator Evaluation system.

Be an effective communicator and problem solver, especially when working with adults.

Demonstrate a variety of pedagogical strategies and methods

Be able to teach to the diverse learning styles of students

Be knowledgeable about the professional and community resources in the school and district
