To assist in developing and supporting social emotional learning practices and procedures. To support staff in the development and implementation of appropriate interventions. To engage with all types of learners. To provide de-escalation, behavior management, and mediation when needed. To support and assist teachers and the building principal.Reports To:
Building Principal Education, Work Experience and Licensure:
Required:
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification at the appropriate grade level for the position being filled. At least 5 years of teaching experience at the appropriate level.Preferred:
Evidence of mastery of a wide variety of teacher competencies and the understanding of instructional techniques. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Leadership experience. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.Performance Responsibilities:
To support and promote the social-emotional learning of all students through a trauma-informed lens. To coordinate and monitor student behavior practices. To serve as a resource for faculty, coaches, counselors, and support staff. To provide support and social-emotional education for the community of parents. To assist in developing and maintaining a positive school climate that encourages orderly student conduct. To promote a feeling of unity and spirit among the student body. To provide leadership/support as needed to teacher meeting groups such as PLCs, Data, 504, and IEP. To assist the Building Principal and staff in implementing the school's curricular and long-range goals. To develop, implement, and evaluate school programs in collaboration with district committees and other parent/community groups as appropriate. To provide support and monitoring of assessment data and trends. To effectively communicate with all outside agencies. To perform any other duties assigned by the Building Principal.Physical Requirements:
The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.Environmental Conditions:
