ELA Teacher (1 Year Only)•Moore Middle
POSITION OVERVIEW
Portland Public Schools seeks a dynamic, friendly, student-centered English Language Arts teacher to join the teaching faculty at Moore Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will build and maintain an inclusive classroom environment that holds all students to high expectations and fosters individual growth. Additionally, this educator will collaborate closely with colleagues to implement high-quality instructional materials, monitor student progress, and design effective interventions for a diverse range of learners. This candidate will communicate and interact regularly with students, parents, colleagues, and community members to support student success.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices
Understanding of the teaching/learning process
Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
Ability to infuse technology into curriculum
Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community
Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university

Maine State Teaching Certificate with one of the following endorsements (more info):
