Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support our English Learner (EL) students at JPS Jackson High School. This part-time position involves working closely with teachers and students to enhance the educational experience for learners from diverse linguistic backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting language acquisition and cultural understanding in a supportive classroom environment. Responsibilities Assist teachers in implementing instructional strategies tailored for English Learner students. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to help them improve their English language skills. Facilitate communication between students and teachers, ensuring that language barriers are minimized. Support the development of culturally responsive lesson plans and materials. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding students' language development. Assist in the preparation of classroom activities and resources that promote language learning. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to English language acquisition. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation from all students. Collaborate with other staff members, including special education and support services, to address the diverse needs of students. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in education, linguistics, or a related field is preferred. Experience working with English Learner students or in a multicultural educational setting is a plus. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English; proficiency in a second language is an advantage. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with teachers and staff. Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the academic and social growth of students. Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students. Availability to work part-time hours during the school day.
