Job Description
The Academically Talented Youth Program instructs middle and high school students in math or English in an accelerated manner. Each student takes two years of a high school subject in one year on campus one afternoon per week. Our teachers instruct the students in a manner similar to teaching a college class just having younger students. During the school year, the English teacher would be required to teach Honors English 9/10 or English 11/12 to a class. The class would meet one afternoon per week and the teacher would be responsible for class preparation, class management, homework scheduling, and individual assistance as deemed appropriate. The day of the week is Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 1-4 p.m. The ATYP schedule follows the Kalamazoo Public School schedule for winter and spring breaks (not WMU's calendar).
