WHO YOU ARE
An instructional leader and literacy specialist who is passionate about accelerating student achievement in English Language Arts through targeted intervention, data-driven instruction, and collaborative support of teachers and students. The HS Academic Interventionist (ELA) will provide strategic academic support to high school students performing below grade level and collaborate with teachers to strengthen Tier I instruction and intervention practices. Do you have what it takes?
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required. Valid New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) in English or English Language Arts. Experience teaching high school English Language Arts preferred. Experience with intervention programs, literacy acceleration, and data analysis preferred. Strong understanding of NJSLS for ELA and evidence-based literacy practices.
THE ROLE
Provide targeted small-group and individual ELA intervention services to students in grades 9-12. Analyze student assessment data to identify learning gaps and develop intervention plans. Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction. Support implementation of
MTSS/RTI
frameworks and progress-monitoring systems. Develop and implement literacy intervention lessons focused on reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and foundational literacy skills. Monitor and track student growth and communicate progress with teachers, administrators, students, and families. Assist in preparing students for NJSLA and other state/local assessments. Support teachers with instructional strategies and differentiation techniques to improve literacy outcomes. Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs), data meetings, and instructional planning sessions. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to intervention services and student progress. Continue professional growth through workshops, seminars, conferences, and ongoing study of best practices in literacy intervention. Perform other duties as assigned.
Funding Source:
This position is fully funded through Title I funds for the 2026-2027 school year.
Salary Range:
Competitive and commensurate with experience based on the MPTEA salary guide
