Position Overview The Liberty Local School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated 6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher who is committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while promoting a love for literature. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive English Language Arts curriculum aligned with state standards. Create engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and encourage student participation. Foster a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and promotes respect and collaboration among students. Create a classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and a passion for reading and writing. Assess students' progress through regular evaluations, projects, and standardized testing. Provide timely feedback to students and communicate effectively with parents regarding student performance and areas for improvement. Integrate technology and multimedia resources into lessons to enhance student learning experiences. Encourage students to engage in independent reading and writing, helping them to cultivate a lifelong love of literacy. Collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and administration to enhance the educational experience. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in teaching and curriculum development. Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, meetings, and committees. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field. Valid teaching certification for English Language Arts for grades 4-9 (or appropriate certification for 6th grade) or ability to obtain. Strong understanding of literacy development and effective teaching strategies. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to create a positive classroom culture that supports diverse learners. Experience with differentiated instruction and personalized learning strategies is a plus. Preferred Skills Experience with classroom management and differentiated instruction. Familiarity with current ELA standards, curriculum, technology and resources. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students and staff for extended periods.
