Education:
High school diploma or GED required. College coursework in core academic areas preferred.Experience:
Previous experience working with students and/or in a multicultural setting preferred.Skills:
Fluent in English; Able to fully interpret and translate between English and other language(s) as needed; must be adaptable to student schedules; able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism with parents and school staffSUMMARY:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
: These statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to the position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required. Provides interpreting and/or translating skills in the educational environment, including classroom, laboratory, field trips, assemblies, academic and social clubs,athletics, evening meetings and programs, parent/teacher conferences, IEP meetings,school produced plays and programs, and any other educational sites/activities deemed appropriate for student learning. Works to equalize the target language with the source language in maximizing the learning situation. Utilizes time before, after and/or during the school day to meet with teachers and staff as deemed appropriate by the building principal, Director of Federal Programs, Federal Programs Specialist, Parent Liaison and/or ELL teacher. Assists classroom teachers with translating instruction materials. Tutors students individually and in small groups under the leadership and direction of the ELL teacher Supervises students entering and exiting buses, on the playground, lunchroom, or any other location where interpreting for students is deemed necessary. Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions with district staff and the public. Assists with other duties assigned by the building principal, Director of Federal Programs, Federal Programs Specialist, Parent Liaison and/or ELL teacher. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility in regard to student scheduling and staffing needs and in the acceptance of extra assignments related to ELL program needs. Maintains confidentiality standards as set forth by Broken Arrow Public Schools. Performs other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL BEHAVIOR

Able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities with 95% attendance.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Primarily inside working conditions with regular exposure to outdoor environmental conditions. Some outside duty assignments required with exposure to pollen, heat, cold, wind, humidity or other weather conditions.PHYSICAL STANDARDS
