Job Description

English Teacher Victory Life Academy - Durant Position Summary The Teacher at Victory Life Academy is responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters academic growth, character development, and a love for learning through the lens of a biblical worldview. This role involves planning and delivering effective instruction in English Language Arts, supporting students' academic and spiritual development, and contributing to the overall school community. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Development Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction that promotes critical thinking, communication, and literacy skills Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with curriculum standards Establish and clearly communicate learning objectives for all instructional activities Teach literature, grammar, writing, vocabulary, speaking, and critical reading skills using a variety of instructional strategies Integrate biblical principles and a Christian worldview into literature analysis, writing instruction, and classroom discussions where appropriate Encourage students to think critically, communicate effectively, and evaluate ideas through the lens of biblical truth Utilize relevant technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning Classroom Environment & Management Prepare and maintain an organized, engaging classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and Christ-like character Manage student behavior by establishing clear expectations, rules, and procedures Maintain discipline in accordance with school policies and biblical principles Apply appropriate and consistent disciplinary measures when necessary Student Assessment & Progress Assess and evaluate student performance through essays, projects, presentations, quizzes, tests, and other formative and summative assessments Provide timely, constructive feedback that strengthens students' reading, writing, and communication skills Monitor and encourage individual student progress Maintain accurate and complete records of student achievement and development Prepare reports as required by school policies and regulations Student Support & Pastoral Care Provide academic support, encouragement, and mentorship to students Offer guidance to students experiencing academic or personal challenges while reflecting Christ-like compassion Foster a positive, supportive classroom culture where students feel valued, challenged, and encouraged to grow spiritually and academically Model Christian character and serve as a positive role model for students Communication & Collaboration Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and needs Participate in staff meetings, department meetings, and parent conferences Collaborate with colleagues to support school initiatives, student success, and the mission of Victory Life Academy School Involvement & Professional Growth Participate in school events, chapel services, extracurricular activities, clubs, and athletics as assigned Stay current with developments in English Language Arts instruction, literacy education, teaching methods, and educational technology Continuously improve instructional practices through professional development Support and uphold the mission, vision, and statement of faith of Victory Life Academy Core Competencies Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to inspire critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication Ability to integrate faith and learning through a biblical worldview Adaptability and creativity in instructional methods Commitment to the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional development of students Demonstrates Christ-like character, integrity, and professionalism
