Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Secondary English Teacher to inspire and engage students in grades 8 through 12. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster a love for literature, writing, and critical thinking while cultivating a supportive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a strong commitment to student success, helping learners develop essential communication skills and a lifelong appreciation for language arts. As a Secondary English Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping students' academic journeys and preparing them for higher education and future careers. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating innovative teaching methods and learning technology tools. Deliver engaging instruction in English language arts, including literature analysis, creative writing, journalism, and language skills. Design assessments that measure student understanding, including standardized tests and project-based evaluations. Provide personalized support through tutoring, mentoring, and instructional design tailored to diverse learning needs. Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior management and encourages active participation from all students. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, research initiatives, and school-wide literacy education programs. Utilize proofreading, copy editing, and adherence to style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style and AP style to ensure high-quality student work. Engage in ongoing professional development related to higher education teaching strategies, special education practices, and library services integration. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or related field. Proven classroom experience teaching secondary-level English or language arts at a private or public school. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies. Familiarity with testing procedures and literacy education best practices. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. Demonstrated organizational skills for lesson planning, classroom management, and educational administration tasks. Experience with learning technology platforms and educational software tools used in modern classrooms. Knowledge of special education accommodations and behavior management techniques is a plus. Pay:
$40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
