The Vermont Permanency Initiative (VPI) is seeking a passionate English Teacher at the New England School for Girls, a residential school serving students in grades 6-12, to provide general education services and work collaboratively as part of a team with planning, instructing, and special education services. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of Common Core, the Vermont Proficiency-based Graduation Requirements, and 21st Century learning, understanding, and applications of best practices in teaching and learning in English Language Arts. Is enthusiastic, student centered and committed to educating all students to high standards and establish and maintain standards of student behavior conducive to an effective learning environment. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on students who benefit from individualized instruction, therapeutic support, and strong, positive relationships. What You'll Do Deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction for middle and high school students Create lesson plans that support reading, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Collaborate with special education staff, clinicians, and residential teams Implement IEP accommodations and monitor student progress Foster a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes achievement and growth Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in English, Education, or a related field Vermont Teaching License or eligibility to obtain licensure Must be at least 21 years of age Experience working with youth preferred Special education or residential school experience a plus Don't have Vermont certification yet?
