QUALIFICATIONS
Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in English/Language Arts.
Demonstrate mature behavior and ability to use sound judgment in working with parents, students, staff, and community.
Previous secondary level experience preferred.
Extracurricular participation encouraged.
Knowledge of research-based best instructional practices for improved student achievement.
Have experience working with Google applications such as Google Drive, Google Documents, Google Calendar and Google Classroom preferred.
Experience and knowledge of Turnitin preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative nature with colleagues.
Bilingual preferred.
DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES
Ability to effectively manage high school level students.
Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a building team.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community.
Ability to assume a leadership role in curriculum development.
Ability to effectively use a variety of teaching strategies.
Must have excellent attendance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach English courses at the high school level by teaching content and skills in English language, literature, composition, speech, and reading to high school students using the district adopted curriculum.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
Demonstrates knowledge and experience in various forms of assessment including student self-assessment, formative assessment, and anecdotal records.
Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
Maintain professional competence through professional development opportunities provided by the district and/or outside of the district.
Help maintain a school environment conducive to learning.
Be a contributing member of a Professional Learning Community within the English department with the ability to collaborate effectively.
Other duties as assigned.
