Job Description

Evergreen's Graduate Program on the Environment, which awards the Master of Environmental Studies (MES) degree, seeks a faculty colleague to teach the elective "Environmental Communication" in Fall 2026. This is a one-quarter part-time adjunct faculty position dedicated to graduate students, teaching a 4-credit MES elective in the evening. Teaching responsibilities will include lectures, workshops, seminar facilitation, and evaluation of student work. The teaching mode will be "hi-flex", i.e. the faculty will be in person with students in a classroom, and a Zoom link will be offered for each class session for students that need to be remote-only. Optional hands-on workshops in campus facilities (e.g. media studios) might take place in-person and possibly on weekends or outside of class. A successful candidate must be able to teach techniques of mass communication and scientific writing. Based on faculty expertise, alternative forms of communication such as video, podcasting, and visual communications may be included. The elective is designed to develop each student's writing and other communication abilities through careful reading, argument construction, and substantive editing.
