Description :
The Center for Mexican American and Latino/a Studies (CMALS) at the University of Houston seeks applications for a part time Lecturer. This is a non-tenure track position. Courses can be offered as face-to-face instruction or as a hybrid. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations. The Center for Mexican American and Latino/a Studies mission is to advance knowledge, promote critical thinking and foster the value of service to the community. This involves designing a broad spectrum of public and scholarly programs. Located within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, CMALS has evolved into an academic unit with several major components: teaching, research and publications, recruitment and retention, leadership training, academic advising and community service. Qualifications Candidates with a doctoral degree will be given priority (undergraduate/graduate courses). Applicants with a Master's degree may be considered (undergraduate courses). Preference will be given to candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials, have college or university teaching experience, or prior relevant industry experience. Required Attachments by Candidate Curriculum Vitae, Unofficial Transcripts, Teaching Philosophy or Statement, and contact information of three references to submit recommendation letters should be included. Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
