The College of Western Idaho is looking for an adjunct faculty member to teach assigned courses in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Successful candidates are required to use the Canvas learning platform for grading, posting office hours, making announcements, etc. The successful candidate may be asked to teach M-F during the day or evening, or Saturday at any of the College of Western Idaho's campus locations using their own means of transportation. They may also be asked to teach exclusively on-line via the Canvas learning platform. To reach a broad range of students, the College of Western Idaho encourages instructors to explore alternative teaching styles and methods.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teach contracted credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in the CWI catalog Utilize outcomes assessment measures Participate in instructional evaluation processes Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviations being filed and communicated promptly through the appropriate channels Monitor and record student progress, maintain accurate records and adhere to the College of Western Idaho's deadlines for such procedures Demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students Adhere to the Social Science and Public Affairs Letter of Teaching Appointment and Faculty Expectations Must be able to provide own means of transportation to various locations throughout the day; including travel between campuses if required. Other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Geography or a related field of study, with a minimum of 12 graduate credits in discipline. Experience teaching secondary level students in Geography or a related field of study. Three years' experience preferred Ability to enact a variety of teaching methodologies including lectures, group activities, individual instruction, distance learning, and teaching with technology Experience using instructional technology preferred Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development Proficiency in the use of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and Canvas applicationsADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS
Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
