Job Description

Department:
Physics & Astronomy Duties The Department of Physics and Astronomy houses a 14-inch Celestron Schmidt reflecting telescope at the Smolen Observatory and the John R. Kirk Planetarium, which are unique components of the astronomy program. Introductory and advanced laboratory courses use up-to-date computer interfaces and research-quality optics and photonics equipment. Faculty research includes computational solid-state physics, optical tweezers, biophysics, and quantum computing education. The Department of Physics and Astronomy at SUNY New Paltz seeks part-time day or evening Adjunct Lecturers to teach introductory courses in physics, introductory labs in physics, and introductory and upper-level courses in astronomy. Successful candidates will be teaching one or more courses in the fall and/or spring semesters.

Qualifications Required:
B.S. or B.A. in physics or astronomy.
Preferred:
M.A. or M.S. in physics, astronomy, or engineering Experience teaching at the college level Special Instructions to Applicants Electronic submissions required.
