Job Description

Department English Campus Location Wichita, KS - WSU Main Campus Hire Type Part Time Pay $1000/credit hour Work Schedule Dependent upon class assignment schedule. Office Hours are Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 Export Compliance Requirement No export control requirement. Job Story Graduate teaching assistant (GTA) instructs introductory composition courses in
ENGL 101, ENGL
102 or
ENGL 210
for the English department. Job Summary The primary function of a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) is to provide direct instruction. GTAs have the latitude to make independent decisions, use judgment and exercise discretion when dealing with student matters. In either case, the main purpose and responsibility of GTAs is to impart knowledge or training to students at Wichita State University. Required Education Bachelor's Degree Additional Requirements GTA applicants must be admitted to either the English MA or MFA program in full standing. Required Experience To be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to a degree program in either full or conditional standing. Students admitted on probation or placed on academic probation following admission may be eligible for assistantship awards under certain circumstances. Physical Requirements Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
