April Vacation Musical Theater Assistant (PAID)
Description:
The New School of Music seeks a musical theater assistant for an April vacation position Mon - Fri, April 20 - 24, 2026. NSM is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and motivated individual who loves working with kids. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with the NSM teaching staff in a week-long full-day musical theater program. The assistant will work directly in the class with the program director and student participants; they will be also be responsible foranizing and overseeing activities for extended day students. This position requires amitment of 35-40 hours a week, Monday-Friday. Duties include but aren't limited to: checking in/ checking out students, helping students one on one, aiding in supplemental group activities, assisting with the development of the final performances and daily prep and clean-up. The assistant will be expected to supervise students in age groups ranging from 7 - 11 years old and interact with parents, staff, faculty.
HOURS:
The program runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm April 20 - 24. Depending on registration, the assistant may also be responsible for after care (ending no later than 5:30 pm). The assistant will need to be present for the full day; they will have a 1 hour lunch break. We are located on Lowell Street in Cambridge. T is a small parking lot adjacent to the building. The 71 and 73 buses stop on our block, and we are a 0.8 mile walk from Harvard Square (Red Line and buses).
Qualifications:
Applicants must have proven experience and confidence in working with youth ages 7 - 11. A musical background is preferred but not required, as is experience in music, theater, or education. Reliability, integrity, and a sense of fun are a must.
