Total earnings for this position is $2,502.50 at $16.25 per hour. At this time, the College is not providing sponsorships for Visas. ABOUT TRIO UPWARD BOUND PROGRAM
The North Shore Community College (NSCC) TRIO Upward Bound (UB) Program is a federally funded program for low-income, first-generation, and/or academically at-risk high school students. The primary mission is to increase the rate at which participants complete their secondary school education, and enroll in and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education. The UB program provides academic, co- and extracurricular activities during the academic year and the summer, including instruction, tutoring, college tours, cultural events, health and fitness activities, educational workshops, and service activities. ABOUT UB SUMMER ACADEMY
The UB Summer Academy is a six-week program that simulates commuter and residential college experiences. The Summer Academy serves approximately 40 students from the Lynn Public Schools. This year's Summer Academy includes a four-week, day program at North Shore Community College's Lynn Campus and a two- week residential program at UMass Amherst. The program runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM during the non-residential component and Sunday evening through Saturday afternoon during the residential component. The overarching theme for this year's Summer Academy is, Starfleet Academy. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Summer Assistants assist the Program and Academic Coordinators and the Program Secretary with organizational clerical work and managing students. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide clerical support as needed for the Upward Bound staff, including but not limited to: making copies, taking attendance, making and answering phone calls
Prepare and set up materials as needed
Assist with monitoring daily attendance and departure of program participants
Assist in attendance checks and monitoring students during class and activities
Assist with data entry via Google forms and Excel spreadsheets
Assist with editing, organizing, and designing: Summer Academy Yearbook and T-shirt contest based on the summer theme, Species 8472
Participate in one-on-one and group staff, student, and all-program meetings
Build and maintain a positive, supportive, productive, and safe environment for both students and staff
Appropriately represent NSCC and UB at all events
Other duties as assigned Job Requirements:
Must have graduated high school & NSCC UB program at the start of the Summer Academy
Clerical experience in a customer service setting preferred
Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, energy, and enthusiasm
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of/experience with the Upward Bound program. Preference is given to alumni, and in particular, alumni who actively participate in their senior year
Demonstrated ability to be punctual and dependable
Demonstrated ability to act as a team player
Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries and uphold program policies
Bi-lingual (Spanish, French, Khmer) preferred
Demonstrated sensitivity towards and passion and commitment to working with students and staff of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, different levels of academic preparation, or/and varying physical and learning abilities-prior experience preferred
