Center Assistant (Early Learning Focus) Kumon of Hillsboro - Orenco Station Hillsboro, OR Job Details Part-time $16.30 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Early childhood education Administrative experience Attention to detail Working with students Algebra Full Job Description Role Overview We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Center Assistant to support our center with a strong focus on Early Learning students and grading. Early Learning students are typically ages 3-5 or students developing foundational skills necessary for independent study. This role is well-suited for individuals in the education field—such as current education students, recent graduates, or educators seeking a second, part-time role for supplemental income. While there is meaningful student interaction, at least 75% of this role involves administrative work , including grading and recording student progress in a fast-paced center environment. Key Responsibilities Reliably attend all scheduled shifts, arriving on time and prepared to work Grade student classwork and homework accurately and efficiently Record student scores in student record books Answer student questions related to math and reading when appropriate Support Early Learning students (ages 3-5 or those building foundational skills) during designated portions of each shift Help students develop focus, confidence, and independence Maintain a calm, positive, and structured learning environment Follow center procedures and instructional guidelines Required Qualifications Availability for at least 8-12 hours per week Must be available from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM and for the entire 4-hour shift Must be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays Must be available for at least 8-12 hours per week going into the fall and beyond Knowledge of mathematics through at least Algebra Knowledge of reading concepts through at least the middle school level Prior experience working with children (formal or informal) Works well in a fast-paced environment and is highly detail-oriented Dependable, organized, and reliable Preferred Qualifications Background in education, child development, or a related field Currently studying education or a related discipline Prior classroom, tutoring, or instructional support experience Ideal Candidate Profile An education professional seeking a consistent part-time role for supplemental income An education student looking to build hands-on experience working with children Comfortable balancing student interaction with structured administrative work Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently without sacrificing accuracy
