Job Description

Midlands Technical College is a public, multi-campus, two-year public college serving the primary region of Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties of South Carolina that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. MTC creates innovative learning environments, promotes individual and business success, drives economic vitality, and enhances quality of life. Join our Team! Midlands Technical College (MTC) is looking for engaged and student-centered instructors to join our community as we provide college preparation for students dually enrolled at MTC and local high schools. Faculty teaching our new College Skills course will have an opportunity to impact student success through this dynamic and inclusive course that focuses on helping high school students navigate the college environment and gain durable skills. Instructors will be provided with a well-developed curriculum and support from a College Skills Coordinator and our Dual Enrollment staff. Paid online training in the following areas will be provided as needed to help instructors meet job responsibilities: Using the MTC Learning Management System (D2L Brightspace) to enhance learning keep attendance records, and manage assignments. Teaching College Skills (includes best practices for effective instruction and collection of data pertaining to student learning outcomes) Understanding 21st Century Accessibility This position is located on various campuses in the Dual Enrollment department. Instructors teaching COL 105 Dual Enrollment must meet at least one of the following criteria: Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in one or more of the disciplinary areas and/or associated careers (including teaching) that will be open for student exploration in the
COL 105 DE
course Hold an Associate's degree and demonstrated competencies in one or more of the disciplinary areas and/or associated careers• included for exploration in the
COL 105 DE
course.

"Disciplinary areas and/or associated careers" open for students to explore in the
COL 105 DE
course include those in MTC Schools of Business, Education and Public Service, STEM, Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades, English and Humanities, Social and Behavior Sciences, and Health Care. Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in counseling which could include career counseling and advising. Master's degree in a relevant disciplinary or student success area Prior teaching experience—examples: Serving as instructor-of-record for a high school or college-level course Teaching or leading workshops for students Small-group facilitation, including work with supplemental instruction Prior experience with Learning Management Systems Prior experience with Online Instruction
