PURPOSE AND SCOPE
We are looking for passionate college students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience working with elementary students in a supportive educational setting. The Part-Time Student Assistant ' University Park (T) performs standard administrative duties for multiple individuals or customers. Activities are routine and may be repetitive. Basic duties may include receiving and logging information, making copies, sorting and distributing mail, preparing correspondence or basic documents, answering routine questions and inquires, providing information and directions and providing a customer friendly environment. This position is temporary and is contingent upon available funding and need.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists a certified teacher in delivering engaging summer reading and/or math lessons Works one-on-one or with small groups of students to reinforce lesson content and ensure no student is falling behind Arrives early to help set up classroom materials and stays after dismissal to assist with end-of-day tasks Supports classroom transitions, including helping with snack time and moving students between activities Occasionally assists in delivering parts of the lesson under the guidance of the lead teacher Learns classroom management strategies and gain valuable teaching experience in a real-world setting Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazardsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED Must be a currently enrolled Lone Star student pursuing a course of studyPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Teaching-related major Interest in working with elementary-aged children and supporting their learning. Reliable, punctual, and ready to collaborate with lead teachers and peers.
