JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a student position responsible for assisting in the operations and activities of a department or a departmental project, program, or function.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University. Must be classified as a graduate assistant. No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides classroom assistance to serve as sighted assistants for a classroom instruction with a visual impairment. Registers attendance, records absence excuses, collects and returns class work, grades small, in-class assignments from a key, observes classroom conditions, and monitors appropriate student behavior.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Knowledge of general office and clerical procedures and concepts. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records and files. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT
Students will be able to work up to 7.75 hours per week. Work times are specific. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:45 AM to 10:00 AM, and 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM.

student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester. Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
