1404-Basic Medical Sciences Classification Pay Scale In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale Minimum:
$169,000.00 Annually Maximum $202,471.00 Annually Job Summary This is a College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific ( COMP ) Faculty-level position within Western University of Health Sciences and is offered in conjunction with an administrative appointment. Together, the faculty role of Professor of Biomedical Sciences ( PCN F03333) and the administrative role ( PCN A04051) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE ). The salary range listed in this posting represents the total compensation for the combined Administrative and Faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding job posting under our Administrative jobs section for details on the additional assignment. Establish and maintain an active research program in the area of expertise. Responsible for teaching and expertise in one of the following areas: Biochemistry/Genetics, Physiology, Microbiology/Immunology, or Pharmacology. The faculty member will develop the subject matter and methods of instruction and those aspects of student life which relate to the educational process. Promote, by precept and example, a general atmosphere within the University of respect for knowledge, thought and inquiry. The faculty member has the right and obligation to participate in scheduled meetings of the General Faculty. Election to the Faculty Council and election or appointment to committees should be considered a privilege and faculty members are encouraged to share in these responsibilities. Contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of courses and academic programs within the University. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the assigned classification, with or without reasonable accommodation(s), using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Knowledge:
Broad, current familiarity with the issues, trends, terminology, regulatory policies, and changing environment operative within the medical education and research communities. Extensive familiarity with processes and trends associated with higher education accreditation and with continuous quality improvement strategies in research planning.
Skills:
Teaching expertise required in medical education related to at least one of the major disciplines within the Biomedical Sciences department (Biochemistry/Genetics, Physiology, Microbiology/Immunology, or Pharmacology). Experience collaborating with faculty and staff in curriculum development and biomedical research.
Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively to either groups or individually. Ability to effectively interact with people of all backgrounds, including students, administration, faculty and staff. Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality. Ability to handle a multitude of responsibilities in the College environment. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications Education:
PhD, MD, DO, or closely related credentials from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Experience:
5 years post-doctoral experience teaching in one of the major disciplines within the Biomedical Sciences department (Biochemistry/Genetics, Physiology, Microbiology/Immunology, or Pharmacology) at an accredited institution of higher learning. Preferred Qualifications PhD preferred. Preference will be given to those individuals possessing experience in medical school teaching and research within one of the major disciplines within the Biomedical Sciences department (Biochemistry/Genetics, Physiology, Microbiology/Immunology, or Pharmacology).
