University of Colorado School of Medicine Anschutz Medical Campus Department of Pharmacology Assistant or Associate Professor - NEUROSCIENCE The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Anschutz Medical Campus ( https://medschool.cuanschutz.edu/pharmacology ) is seeking applicants to fill tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the area of Neuroscience . The research of the applicant should emphasize molecular, cellular or circuit mechanisms that are broadly related to understanding the nervous system or associated diseases, actions of existing drugs, or the development of new drugs or therapies to treat neurological or neuropsychiatric disorders. We especially seek applicants whose research would complement our existing strengths in neuropharmacology studying regulation of neuronal circuits, synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter receptors, ion channels, cell adhesion molecules, signal transduction, glia and gene expression in control of neuronal function in learning and memory, neurodegeneration, addiction, ischemic brain injury, intellectual disability, schizophrenia, and autism. The Department of Pharmacology is a collegial and collaborative interdisciplinary scientific group, with strengths in neuroscience, cancer research, structural biology, epigenetics, cellular optogenetics, glial biology, and bioinformatics. We encourage applications from all individuals who would thrive in a collaborative and collegial scientific environment. Applicants should also be enthusiastic about teaching and serving as research mentors in our interdepartmental graduate training programs such as the Pharmacology Graduate Program and the Neuroscience Graduate Program. Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree and appropriate and sufficient post-doctoral experience to establish and/or maintain an independent research program competitively funded by extramural grant support. The department offers outstanding resources to support new faculty, including competitive salary and start-up support, junior faculty mentoring and guidance, well-supported core facilities and a strong collegial neuroscience research environment on campus.
