Trending Job Description Job Objective Clinical Instructors are responsible for providing effective instruction and assessment during clinical practice trainings of undergraduate and diploma health sciences students in the classroom, lab, hospital and community locations. The clinical instructor identifies the strengths and learning opportunities of health sciences students, while providing a nurturing atmosphere of applied training where students can grow professionally. Main Responsibilities Strategic Role Think beyond short term objectives to consider the broader vision and strategic goals of HCT. Support in cascading the overall functional strategy into operational goals. Facilitate the achievement of strategic objectives by allocating resources and focusing the efforts of the team. Operational Role Collaborate with the Outreach and Work-Integrated Learning Department to engage with MOH, HAAD and DHA Clinical / Work Placement Departments of Medical Education to get the approvals for placements and apprenticeships. Provide an orientation for the students to the clinical sites including locations, schedules (days and hours), evaluation methods, and overall expectations and responsibilities. Support faculty with the development of intentional objectives setting and competencies for clinical skills and competencies, including and assessments. Review the student's portfolio to tailor activities based upon their previous exposure, goals and expectations, or areas requiring growth. Identify and assign appropriate activities and projects that are in alignment with the objectives and competencies for the clinical rotation to enhance student learning. Monitor student progress to ensure objectives are adequately addressed and met. Serve as a role model and mentor for health sciences students. Serve as a resource to enhance student success during placement and apprenticeships. Maintain student confidentiality. Facilitate and/or seek interactions with the management and other health care professionals of clinical practice sites. Assess student competence to identify strengths and address weaknesses. Complete written and verbal mid and final-rotation evaluations with the student to communicate student progress and address any areas of concern. Complete a final "student placement evaluation" and report any concerns or issues to faculty. Communicate with the Curriculum Leader and the Academic Chair with any concerns or questions regarding student progress as soon as issues arise. Maintain a current CV/resume and provide a copy to the Academic Chair or HR department as requested. Stimulate the student's interest in all aspects of clinical practice and encourage innovative thinking and approaches to practice. Other duties as assigned. Leadership Role Facilitate the development of students' competencies, standards of practice, and decision making skills. Provides timely feedback to students on their practicum, clinical, and field training progress. Serve as a role model and mentor for the health sciences student. Tailor activities to the development needs of subordinates and provide guidance on how to perform tasks. Provide subordinates the support they need to succeed and allow them to take responsibility for the results. Actively and effectively listen to others and help them resolve issues or overcome difficulties. Use appropriate situational leadership style depending on individual ability and the task to be accomplished e.g. directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating. Maintain confidentiality of the students, patients, beneficiaries and other health care workers. Contribute in an effective and efficient manner to the recruitment and development of UAE Nationals. Evidence of a personal professional development plan. Qualifications Master's degree in the relevant field or specialized discipline (Health Information Management, Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Emergency Medical Science, Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Social Work, and Medical Imaging). Experience A minimum of 5 years clinical experience in the specialized discipline. Valid licensure in country of qualification and /or be able to obtain the UAE. Strong interpersonal skills, innovative, team player. Leadership skills and organizational ability. Fluency in written and spoken English. Effective presentation and demonstration skills, both theoretical and practical. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization. A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodology. Current knowledge of the specialized discipline, trends, and issues. Evidence of a personal professional development plan. Clinical teaching experience in the specialized discipline.
