Job Description

Summary of Position Teaches assignments through didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical courses in the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program. Prepares instructional materials and delivers course content in alignment with course objectives and program competencies. Evaluates student performance using appropriate assessment methods and provides timely feedback. Maintains accurate records of student grades. Ensures course content reflects current clinical laboratory practices, methodologies, and quality assurance principles. Utilizes learning technologies (e.g., LMS) to deliver instruction and communicate with students. Supports student learning and competency development and contributing to program effectiveness consistent with professional standards and accreditation requirements. Collaborates with program faculty and leadership in maintaining course quality and consistency and adhering to institutional policies, procedures, and accreditation standards. Position Information Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule:
Typically, Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments may be remote or at various locations.
Primary Location:
Youngstown Qualifications and Competencies Required Certifications, Training, and/or
Licensures:
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent credentialing body. Sponsorship and/or
Work Authorization Status:
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or in an equivalent related field; two years of clinical laboratory experience in one or more major laboratory areas; certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist through American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent credentialing body; must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science, or an equivalent related field. Previous teaching experience in a Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program.
Physical Requirements:
In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform light work.
Light:
work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, requiring: (1) walking or standing to a significant degree; (2) sitting most of the time while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls; or (3) working at a production rate pace while constantly pushing or pulling materials even though the weight or the materials is negligible. (The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.)
