The IUP College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) invites applicants for a part-time temporary faculty teaching position in Psychiatry beginning in the Fall of 2026. The Psychiatry faculty will provide support for the development, operationalization, delivery, and assessment of psychiatry preclinical and clinical education curriculum. They will be directly responsible for curricular teaching, service to the university, scholarly activity, and in some cases, precepting medical students. This faculty member will lead and facilitate skills labs for residents and students at our graduate medical education partner institutions, ensuring hands-on, competency-based learning experiences as needed. They will also design and deliver structured procedural training sessions to enhance resident and student clinical competencies as needed.

Essential Duties:

Develop curriculum and course/system curricular objectives for coursework in the College of Osteopathic Medicine, with an emphasis on creating mental/behavioral health-psychiatry curricula, and collaboratively integrating psychiatric training throughout preclinical and clinically oriented courses, including linking courses and programmatic objectives Contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of courses and academic programs within IUP and the COM Promote the mission of IUP and the COM to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students Contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of courses and academic programs within IUP and the COM Carry out lectures, seminars, small group discussion and/or review of clinical assignments and responsibilities effectively Create goals and objectives for each lecture Organize and present in the psychiatry courses and/or small group discussions Prepare examination questions as well as grade a course or portion of course Meet classes according to published schedule Serve as an active member of the department, working closely with the department head to further the department and College mission and vision Work, as needed, with the Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs and GME on curricular matters Provide service by attending scheduled faculty meetings and by serving on appointed and or elected committees as required Supervise students during authorized and approved patient care events including health fairs, sports physicals, or community outreach programs Assist in development of syllabi, coursework learning objectives and curricula for clinical clerkships Participate in curriculum development, assessment and quality improvement as a part of the COM's ongoing quality improvement and assessment program Other duties as assigned related to curriculum development related to psychiatry for the 4-year osteopathic medical education program. Minimum Qualifications:

DO/MD degree and Board Certification in Psychiatry by ABMS or AOA Able to be licensed in Pennsylvania as a physician within the first year of hire date A minimum of 1 year experience teaching at an accredited US osteopathic or allopathic medical school preclinical or clinical medical student setting teaching setting, or ACGME residency program with proven experience in teaching. Academic rank will be commensurate with training and experience.
