Job Description

The clinical faculty position focuses on the instructional activities required to implement the clinical laboratory component of nursingcourses under the supervision of a senior faculty member. Appointment period per semester basis determined by course needs.
JOBFUNCTIONS
A. Teaching Assumes clinical laboratory supervision role. Assists in clinical teaching activitieswithin designated course(s) under the leadership of senior faculty. Assists in planning and evaluating clinical teachingactivities within assigned course(s). Maintains currency of knowledge and skills in area(s) of preparation. Functionsunder the supervision of a senior faculty member who maintains overall course responsibility. Maintains accessibility to students,within College/Department policy. Ensures personal compliance with clinical agency requirements re: licensure, health screening,professional liability insurance, CPR, criminal background checks, etc. and role models these behaviors for students. B.Department/College Activities and Community Service Seeks opportunities to share expertise with others at local or regionallevels. C. Scholarly Activities and Professional Development Identifies opportunities to make scholarlycontributions. Expands nursing knowledge and skills in area(s) of teaching focus.
EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRINGREQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION MSN
required; DNP preferred. An unencumbered active license as a registered nurse (RN) or advancedpractice registered nurse (APRN) in South Carolina or another Compact state required. Minimum of two years' clinical practice as aprofessional registered nurse related to the area of assigned clinical teaching responsibilities. Evidence of effective clinical practicethat includes experience with formal and informal teaching of patient groups, of students, and/or of licensed nurses. Familiarity with theNeuman Systems Model preferred.
