Attend assigned faculty, departmental, and committee conferences/meetings. Participate in ongoing quality improvement projects. Participate in faculty development activities. Oversight and championing of assigned curricular components. Maintain admission privileges at both Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest and Ascension Providence. Other duties as assigned.
STANDARD TASKS
The following list includes tasks that are representative of those required of a faculty member in the Family Medicine Residency. The list is not meant to be all inclusive, nor does it constitute all performance measures or standards. It does not preclude the residency from temporarily restructuring faculty duties as it deems appropriate for faculty with acute illness, injury, or other circumstances of a temporary nature. The faculty member, without use of an intermediary, must be able to: Take a history and perform a physical examination Administer injections Use sterile technique and universal precautions Move throughout the clinical sites and hospitals to address routine and emergent patient care needs Perform routine and complicated vaginal deliveries, repair perineal lacerations, and assist at operations (if OB activities included) Communicate with patients and staff, verbally and otherwise in a culturally sensitive manner that exhibits good professional judgment, respect and good listening skills and is appropriate for the professional setting Demonstrate timely, consistent, and reliable follow-up on patient care issues, such as laboratory results, patient phone calls, or other requests Input and retrieve computer data through a keyboard, read a computer screen, secure and maintain a reliable personal cell phone Demonstrate literacy in reading and navigating the electronic medical record and the various electronic patient monitoring systems present in the hospital setting Perform documentation procedures such as progress notes, chart dictations, and other paperwork in a timely fashion Manage multiple patient care duties at the same time Make judgments and decisions regarding complicated, undifferentiated disease presentations in a timely fashion in emergency, ambulatory, and hospital settings Demonstrate organizational skills required to care for 9-12 or more outpatient patient care visits per half day Work varied duty hours including some nights, weekends, and holidays Travel to and between multiple clinical sites that may not be readily accessible by public transportation Take call for periods of up to 1 week at a time from home, with trips to the hospital as required by patient condition during that time Present well-organized case presentations and lectures to other physicians or supervisors both in-person and by telephone.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
M.D. or D.O. degree from accredited school Completion of a residency in Family Medicine Current certification through the American Board of Family Medicine or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians Current, unrestricted Texas Licensure with TSBME and DPS or Texas-eligible Current, unrestricted DEA license Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certification (ALSO, STABLE, ATLS all optional)
SKILLS:
Family Medicine residency faculty position for the purpose of training family medicine residents., medical students and other allied learners in inpatient and outpatient settings. Outpatient teaching and patient care activities occur at Waco Family Medicine - Central and all clinical sites that are part of Waco Family Medicine. Inpatient activities occur at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest and Ascension Providence Health Center. Constant contact with fellow faculty, residents, employees, and patients in person, on the telephone, via HIPAA-compliant messaging and in writing. Daily contact with residents, fellow faculty, and private attendings. A high level of professionalism is required as the faculty member must be able to communicate effectively, maintain excellent rapport, and instill confidence in patients, residents, and staff. Faculty time is somewhat variable but will include 20% of time spent in direct patient care, 60-70% in teaching and resident/medical student supervision, with 10-20% administrative time. Each faculty member has 1 afternoon off each week. Physical accommodations will be implemented where necessary and feasible
PRIMARY DUTIES
Must have a genuine desire to continuously learn and provide culturally sensitive high quality patient care to a culturally, ethnically and racially diverse patient population. Must be a role model of the highest levels of professionalism and integrity. Teaching, supervision, and evaluation of family medicine residents and other trainees in outpatient clinic settings, including performance of outpatient procedures and review of related medical records created by trainees. Teaching, supervision and evaluation of family medicine residents and other trainees in hospital settings, including adult, pediatric, and adult ICU care. Supervision of family medicine residents and other trainees in OB including the labor and delivery setting is optional but preferred. Supervisory responsibilities also include leading rounds, bedside teaching, writing attending notes, supervision of procedures and overseeing interactions with consultants. Participation in providing structured teaching experiences for family medicine residents and other trainees through methods such as lectures, discussion groups and case conferences. Participation in faculty meetings and conferences and in faculty decision-making processes. Participation in interviewing and evaluation of family medicine residency applicants. Provide longitudinal advising and mentoring for family medicine residents. Direct patient care activities through continuity outpatient care at WFM - Central and/or other WFM clinical sites as needed. Supervision of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in the outpatient setting. Share job details to
