Job Description

Student Development Manager Northern Arizona University Special Information NAU is currently engaged in transitioning to a new employment category called University Staff , which aligns the current Classified Staff , Service Professional , and Administrator classifications into a single, unified employment group. As a result, while this position is currently classified as Service Professional , effective July 1, 2026 , this position will be automatically transitioned to the University Staff category. This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare. Due to a university-wide staff classification transition, the expected start date for this position is on or after July 6, 2026. About the Department/College The Office of Leadership & Engagement brings together student organizations, student leaders, fraternity & sorority life, and engagement events and programs to support and deepen the holistic student experience. About the Position The Student Development Manager for the Office of Leadership & Engagement drives the development and management of the Fraternity & Sorority Life program at Northern Arizona University. The position provides leadership, advising, and strategic direction for the Greek community to enhance student belonging and engagement. Responsibilities Include 45% - Programs & Collaborations Provide support to the Tri-Council recruitment programs, including space requests, adherence to national policies, advisor outreach, and Bid Day operations. Lead coordination of annual Greek officer leadership training. Works directly with Program Manager, Alliances within the Office of Inclusion to support student organization involvement and engagement. Collaborate with key campus partners on educational programming efforts, including Health Promotion, Alumni Engagement, Office of Inclusion, Community Relations, Center for Inclusive Excellence and Access, etc. Engage in relationship building with national offices. Lead programmatic/marketing efforts during annual National Hazing Prevention Week, Wear Your Letters Wednesday, etc. Provide oversight of chapter grade reports, service hours, and philanthropy impacts. Maintain the New Member Education program to welcome members of the Greek community and educate them on the Fraternity & Sorority Life area. Support the semesterly rollout of the mandated Hazing Prevention Training program, including content updates, compliance tracking, and communications. 40% - Supervision/Advising Recruit, train, and supervise the Fraternity & Sorority Life Graduate Assistant. Provide direct or shared advisement of the Interfraternity Council, College Panhellenic Council, and United Greek Council, including adherence to national standards, individualized support, and onboarding. Review FSL event requests in True Blue Connects and advise on best practices for event planning. Provide general support to chapter leadership and officers. Maintain lists of council officers, local advisors, chapter rosters, and national contacts. Maintain historical records of chapter expansions, insurance, university contracts/relationship agreements, and chartering. 15% - General Leadership & Engagement Represent and assist the Office of Leadership & Engagement at departmental and University-wide events including Club Fairs, Homecoming events, , Welcome Week events, etc. Support training programs for student organization officers and advisors. Contribute to annual revisions of the Student Organization Manual. Lead recruitment efforts for student organization/chapter faculty and staff advisors. Participate in Division and University-wide committees as appropriate. Support website management and social media content creation for the Office of Leadership & Engagement. 5% - Other Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in relevant field. 1 year of program management experience. 2 years of relevant experience. •A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Greek Life, or previous member of a social Greek chapter. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge Knowledge of higher education law, including FERPA, Title IX, HIPAA, etc. Knowledge of primary factors that impact student retention and common strategies used to increase student success. Knowledge of student development theory. Knowledge of current physical health, mental health, alcohol and drug use, and social issues on university campuses. Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles. Skills Customer service skills Supervisory practices and principles. Data tracking and reporting. Organizational and project management skills. Development and maintenance of a budget. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Abilities Communicates effectively. Problem solving, organizational, and analytical capabilities. Compensation Salary range is $58,882 - $69,500. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience. Pre-Employment Check Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
