The Program Manager, under the direction of the Executive Board and in collaboration with the Board of Directors, is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing conservation, education, and community-based programs. This role includes managing volunteers, cultivating partnerships, and developing science-based educational initiatives for diverse audiences across the Tri-County region. Please submit your letter of interest and resume to Key Responsibilities Program Development Design, implement, and lead community-based conservation programs and educational initiatives. Lead and expand spring classroom engagement efforts across the Tri-County area. Formalize and enhance existing classroom programs while recommending new program components. Community Engagement Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and local organizations. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate monthly Program Committee meetings. Recruit and develop a strong volunteer network to support education and outreach efforts. Volunteer Management Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers supporting conservation activities and events. Coordinate volunteer involvement in fundraising efforts, including the annual Snow Goose Festival. Strategic Planning Align programs with the Altacal Bird Alliance Strategic Plan (2026). Maintain and strengthen existing programs while identifying opportunities for growth and impact. Operations & Logistics Develop and manage program budgets and ensure compliance with grant requirements. Oversee program logistics to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality delivery. Administrative Support Provide recommendations to the Board of Directors on updating policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Treasurer on day-to-day financial operations. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in environmental science, education, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred . Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental education, conservation programming, or volunteer management. At least 2 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, or mission-aligned businesses. Event Management Demonstrated experience planning and managing events involving staff, board members, volunteers, and donors, including large-scale events such as the Snow Goose Festival . Skills Proven ability to lead teams and manage volunteers effectively. Experience with grant writing and program reporting. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality. Skilled at building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders. Technical Proficiency Experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with QuickBooks and cloud-based tools such as Zoom and Zeffy. Passion Demonstrated commitment to bird conservation and alignment with the Altacal Bird Alliance mission. Focus Areas Development of curriculum and educational programming for children and the general public. Support for education and nature center initiatives. Compensation & Benefits Full-time position (40 hours per week), typically Monday-Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required.
