Full Job Description Job Objective:
Under the direction of the Manager Admitting/Registration, performs and provides administrative, training and clerical duties in the Admitting and Registration Departments as required to meet the facilities mission and goals. Provides support in organizing, prioritizing, and controlling workflow to accomplish the objectives of each of their primary services areas. Establishes policies, objectives, and work standards for the department and provides management and supervision necessary to coordinate the functions and activities of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Directly supervises assigned employees in all facets of registration and duties relating to registration processes in the Admitting/Registration Areas. Acts as a patient care advocate and liaison with department manager. Plans, supervises, schedules and assigns employee workload distribution and assignments. Available 24/7 the handling of any issues that arise in the Admitting/Registration Areas. Reviews uncompensated patients to ensure that a payment source is identified. Reviews methods, procedures and forms and recommends change when needed. Uses, maintains, verifies, reconciles, corrects, balances, and audits a variety of health information/ED Registration indexes, lists, reports, accounts, census, logs, storage, and retrieval systems. Compiles information to generate various reports. Plans, organizes, monitors, and coordinates work to achieve departmental goals and maximum productivity and efficiency on a day-to-day basis. Interacts with hospital staff, medical staff, and other leads and managers to ensure prompt and accurate communication as needed to complete assigned tasks and meet goals of the service. Provides technical and administrative assistance in staff training, budget related processes, productivity management, supply management, policies and procedures, special projects, and quality improvement/management tasks. Ensures staff has obtained the appropriate training, work allocation, problem resolution and motivates employees to achieve peek productivity and performance. Monitors and QA's daily work of employees. Assists Manager Admitting/Registration with all areas of Registration for strategic planning for growth of department. Participates in the interviewing and hiring of candidates for open positions. Evaluates staff performance on an on-going and annual basis. Participates in counseling and terminations. Reviews and authorizes Time and Attendance to check for correctness, accuracy, for all hours recorded. Controls and monitors department staff overtime Motivates and inspires staff to exceed department goals and objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge Medical terminology and medical necessity. Federal, State, and County reimbursement programs, rules and regulations. Legal aspects of medical record management. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Know ordering/scheduling of exams/tests Skills Ability to type 30 WPM accurately and perform data entry accurately Abilities Ability to work effectively and courteously when under stress Ability to be flexible in meeting the staffing requirements of the Registrations Department Ability to effectuate oral and written instructions, policies, procedures, guidelines and communications Ability to recognize colors associated with color-coded filing system Ability to retrieve, reproduce, deliver, track, and file information/records using various equipment and systems in the facility and offsite
