ARISE High School is a small charter school in East Oakland, California focused on preparing students to find success in college and career. ARISE is currently recruiting for the position of Dean of Community, College & Career. This is a 12-month position per the ARISE Calendar.
Job Responsibilities & Expectations:
Specific Schedules to be determined Department Leadership & Supervision Leads the Community, College & Career department, setting vision, priorities, and strategy in partnership with the Co-Heads of School Supervises, evaluates, and leads all members of the Community, College & Career team to ensure the CCC goals are set and achieved Facilitates the weekly CCC department meeting Coordinates Tier 3 case management across grade levels with the Co-Head of School for Student Support and the COST team Supports efforts to recruit, hire, retain, and develop a high-quality team Supervises the Senior Coordinator of Career in their leadership of enrichment programming, including partnership development, guest instructor supervision, student placements and credits, and program assessment Member of Team Freire, supporting advisory and grade level initiatives Pathways & Linked Learning Maintains and strengthens the structure of our Public and Community Health and Education pathways in collaboration with the Dean of the Education Pathway and Head of School - Instruction Guides the integration of career technical education into the school model in collaboration with the Dean of the Education Pathway and Head of School - Instruction Leads the integration of work based learning into the school model Member of the Pathways Team (led by Head of School of Instruction) Leads, organizes, and plans the Pathway Advisory Council in collaboration with the Dean of the Education Pathway Holds Measure H and Linked Learning stakeholder relationships and communications Oversees industry certification and community partner work Partners with the Senior Director of Finance, Compliance & Grants on Linked Learning and Community Engagement budgets, grant applications and reporting, vendor agreements, and Linked Learning Alliance certification evidence College & Career Guides the inclusion and differentiation of college planning, career training, and work based learning opportunities in post-secondary advising Leads college and career advisory lesson design with the Director of Humanities and the grade level leads, per the Team Freire charter Leads CCC team in the planning and implementation of College and Career days Supervises the 12th grade College & Career Readiness class, holding scope, sequence, and common assessment across the sections taught by the College & Career Counselors and Community Learning Coordinators. Covers the class as needed and ensures all team members are delivering high quality instruction. Manages the Peralta Community College District relationship, including named campus contacts and annual agreements Guides dual enrollment systems so that students are registered, placed, and supported Oversees alumni guidance and tracking and partnerships with college access and postsecondary transition programs, led day to day by the College & Career Counselors Community Engagement Supports the development of vision, priorities, and strategies for family engagement and community services in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team led by the Senior Community Engagement Coordinator Supports the planning of family events, family leadership meetings, and staff professional development in community engagement Supports Community School initiatives that support the wellbeing of students and families, including expansion of services and open campus hours Supports the food pantry, healthcare access programs, and family needs referrals led by the Senior Coordinator for Community Scheduling, Data & Systems Manages PowerSchool scheduling and master schedule compliance in CALPADS Ensures pathway, work based learning, dual enrollment, and alumni data are accurate and current for reporting Develops and maintains the data tracking systems the CCC team works from, including student-level trackers for pathway sequence, work based learning, dual enrollment, industry certification, and post-secondary intent Designs and administers surveys of students, families, and community partners on enrichment, advising, and pathway experience, and brings results back to the team Sets a regular cadence for the CCC team to review its own data and adjust practice, and supplies clean underlying data to the Senior Director of Finance, Compliance & Grants for Measure H, CTEIG, CALPADS, and Linked Learning reporting ARISE Crew Expectations Commitment to ARISE's values including the Anti-Racist and Pro-Black mission and vision Participates in ARISE's culture of accountability and self-reflection through the evaluation process Participates fully in Summer Professional Development including overnight August retreat Participates fully in Professional Development days throughout the work year Participates in key events such as Exhibition Night, Orientation, Family Meetings, and other weekday and weekend events Embodies and helps the school realize its mission, vision, and goals Qualifications for

Bachelor's Degree Preferred:
Master's Degree in education, educational leadership, counseling, or a related field

familiarity with Measure H, the California Community Schools Partnership Program, or comparable public funding for pathways and community schools

Benefits:
Salary band $68,000 to $118,000 depending on years of experience, plus any salary increases based on Graduate Work, Spanish Bilingual, Clear Credential, CTE Credential, or Administrative credential based on our plus annual COLA and retention bonuses CalSTRS retirement match at 19% for credentialed candidates Health Benefits (100% coverage for staff and 50% for partners) Access to contribute to retirement benefits through 401k, 457b, and 403b Staff accrue seven (7) days of vacation/paid time off ("PTO") per work year prorated across each pay period. All employees shall accrue one (1) hour of sick time for every thirty (30) hours worked in accordance with local and state law.
