The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to collaboratively manage student leadership information, processes, and resources. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to collaboratively develop, support, and promote student engagement. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the assigned classification, with or without reasonable accommodation(s), using some other combination of skills and abilities. Knowledge of:
Experience:
Preferred 2-3 years' experience working with web-based tools, web-content management, and professional writing. Experience with Microsoft Office suite, student information databases (Banner preferred), and Canva or other design-related programs. Computer skills enabling employee to make changes in various web editing tools along with web-based forms. Create effective and useful documents in Microsoft suite, Google Documents, Google Forms and any other software program required for this position. Knowledge of video conferencing software including (but not limited to) Zoom and Microsoft Teams.Skill:
Strong written communication, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills that enable the employee to interact effectively with administration, faculty, staff, students, and guests.Ability to:
Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism. Prioritize and successfully complete multiple duties while paying close attention to detail. Skilled in making decisions with sound judgment.Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree required.Experience:
Required 2-3 years experience in student affairs related field preferably in serving graduate-level students.Preferred Qualifications Essential Job Duties Key Responsibilities Student Support and Cocurricular Activity Advisement:
In the absence and/or support of theDirector:
SGA/Club Advisement. Event approval. Reimbursement approval. Provide necessary data for student emergencies. Review and approve health screenings. Oversee processing of student fitness benefit with Coordinator(s). Report and escalate student concerns to Director or higher as needed. Join and/or participate in University Committees as appropriate or assigned by Director or Associate Vice Provost for Student Success. The Assistant Director will update and manage important communication tools including (but not limited to) student leader handbook, SGA Bylaws, Club Bylaws, SGA Constitution, and USA webpages.Key Responsibilities Website, and Software Management:
Manage content and editing of: USA Webpages (including but not limited to): Review and approve discounts in collaboration with campus partners. Welcome Week and University Orientation. Commencement Website. Welcome Week and University Orientation. Orientation module creation, maintenance, and updates. Student Leader Management software.Key Responsibilities Support Student Leader and Engagement Activities:
Assists with planning, coordination, and hosting University Orientation o Present student benefits for program orientation during off-cycle admissions processes (e.g., DPM-AS, DMD-IDP, etc.) Active planning role in (including but not limited to) student life programming: o Fall/Spring Club Week o Resource Fair o Interprofessional Health Fair(s) o Halloween Costume Contest o Student Mixer o Santa's Workshop Co-Lead on Commencement Planning Team(s) as assigned. Support SLL Director with Commencement planning and execution as assigned. Key Responsibilities Student Leader Transition and Documentation Management Manage the club/class officer database and any related student organization software, as well as update and communicate with student leaders regarding club/class email permissions, business office accounts, and copy codes. Manage Executive SGA and Class SGA Officers through Fall and Spring elections in partnership with student leaders. Advise and guide college partners and student leaders for off-cycle election issues Acts as liaison between student organizations and IT for tech-related needs (e.g. club e-mail permissions). Maintain and update student leader transition and guidance documents through collaboration, partnership, and SGA process.Including but not limited to:
o Club Annual Report process and review o SGA Bylaws o Club Bylaws o SGA Constitution o Student Leader Handbook Key Responsibilities Other Duties as Assigned Provide office and phone coverage in collaboration with SLL department. Required to be in the office in the absence of the Director and/or Coordinators to meet student need.
