Position Summary The Director of Off-Campus Programs oversees all aspects of off-campus study experiences outside the state of Indiana, ensuring programs are impactful, well-managed, and aligned with Taylor University's mission. Responsibilities include program development, budget management, student advising, and safety coordination. The director works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to support program goals and enhance the student experience. This position provides oversight of all global programs, including semester programs and short-term service, service-learning, and academic trips. Duties and Responsibilities This position is primarily responsible to: Testify to personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ, affirm belief in the University's Statement of Faith, abide by and practice our Life Together Covenant, and both personally agree with and support the Foundational Documents of Taylor University. Semester Abroad Programs Develop and oversee pre-departure and re-entry workshops to prepare students for cultural, academic, and spiritual growth. Advise students on course equivalencies in collaboration with the registrar, faculty advisors, and academic committees. Coordinate program marketing through web, print materials, and events to promote off-campus programs. Manage logistics and support of budgeting, flights, and visas. Conduct assessments of student outcomes and program effectiveness, providing summary reports to leadership. Short-term Faculty/Staff-led International Programs Train and support faculty leading January Term, Spring Break, and Summer programs, including safety and security workshops. Coordinate logistics and provide resources for program planning and execution. Offer debriefing opportunities and ongoing support to faculty/staff leaders. Develop partnerships with missions organizations and service learning opportunities. Safety, Security, and Risk Management Monitor global events and update safety protocols Be familiar with best practices around "duty of care" for students during off-campus experiences Serve on the Crisis Management Team to address international emergencies and evaluate policy effectiveness. Recommend updates to emergency policies, including conducting test scenarios. Administrative Responsibilities Supervise the Coordinator of Taylor World Outreach Oversee relationships with vendors providing travel insurance and other services for study abroad programs. Manage the online system, including training users and interfacing with the provider. Collaborate with the business office on student billing and course fees for off-campus programs. Participate in professional education abroad associations such as NAFSA/Forum on Education Abroad through memberships, conferences, and presentations. Maintain shared resources for faculty and students via platforms like BrightSpace and Microsoft Teams Collaboration & Communication Recruit students to participate in global experiences Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and campus partners to support program delivery. Assist with communication efforts, including website updates, email communications, and promotional materials. Support coordination with external partners or international institutions as needed. General Support Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Perform other related duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Required Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited institution in a related profession (Intercultural studies, global education, etc) Experience living abroad, strong intercultural communication skills, and leadership capabilities. 5-8 years working in higher education Excellent oral and written communication skills, including skills in presenting to a variety of audiences and in writing briefings, proposals, and communication/recruitment plans Ability to interact with and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, faculty, administrators, and international partners. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Proven ability to supervise and develop professional staff, to set and achieve goals, and prioritize activities This role will require the ability and willingness to travel, visiting partner sites around the world. Preferred Qualifications Ability in a foreign language preferred Significant experience working with undergraduate students to understand recruitment, holistic needs, and learning. Experience teaching intercultural/global learning courses Supplemental Information Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills. Ability to work one-on-one or in large group settings.
