Danbury High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to serve as Dean of Student Support. This role is focused on strengthening relationships with students and families while implementing interventions that foster individual student success—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Position Overview:
The Dean of Student Support is responsible for building positive relationships with students and families, identifying barriers to student success, and coordinating supports and interventions to improve outcomes. This position reports directly to the Principal or their designee. Key Responsibilities Serve as a primary contact for students requiring academic, behavioral, or emotional support. Collaborate with families, teachers, and support staff to identify student needs and develop individualized success plans. Track and analyze attendance and academic performance to proactively identify students in need of support. Coordinate outreach and conduct home visits, as needed, to maintain strong school-family partnerships. Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, interventions, and results. Work collaboratively with the school-family liaison and external agencies to connect students with appropriate resources. Assist in conflict resolution using restorative practices. Provide ongoing communication with stakeholders to ensure transparency and progress monitoring. Other duties as assigned by the Principal. Qualifications Valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching or school-based experience Proven ability to connect with and support at-risk students Experience working with students who present behavioral or social-emotional needs Strong communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in diverse school communities Counseling or social work experience preferred Spanish language proficiency preferred
Work Year:
Teacher workday plus one additional hour per day (Monday-Thursday) for family engagement, including home visits and meetings 5 additional summer days (paid per diem)
Salary:
In accordance with the current NEA Danbury Teachers contract Additional stipend of $4,600
