Job Description
Museum Administrator Summary :
The Education Coordinator supports the Museum's Education Program, assisting with in-person school programming, internships, and virtual school tours, when applicable. Flexible schedule and available on weekends, when needed.Details :
School Programming- The Education Coordinator creates and maintains a school spreadsheet with school contacts in Norwalk and other communities
- The Education Coordinator reaches out to teachers and principals via email, followed by phone calls, if necessary, to set up school tour presentations with docents, both in-school and at the Museum
- The Education Coordinator sends invoices and minor photo release forms to teachers
- The Education Coordinator visits schools for classroom presentations
- The Education Coordinator oversees school tours both in-class and at the Museum
- The Education Coordinator scans and archives paperwork
- The Education Coordinator leads presentations and tours if needed
- The Education Coordinator provides the Executive Director and Sr. Museum Administrator with a monthly report on school tours.
- Assist with the delivery of education programs for grades 2-college. Internship Program
- Oversees students participating in Internship Program, including interviewing prospective interns, overseeing scheduling, creating master project list, and supervising all intern activity and day-to-day performance.
Education, and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with teachers and schools.
- Ability to speak in front of groups and represent the Museum professionally.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating learning experiences for students 2rd grade through college.
- Knowledge of Common Core Standards for Social Studies.
- Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, racial and ethnic identities, genders, and abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database software.
- Ability to move a project or assignment through different phases.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to follow through.
Compensation:
$25- 30 per hour, 16-20 hours per week.
