Job Description

These positions are located in the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) in Washington, DC. The positions are the Director of the Division of Safe Schools or the Director of the Office of Migrant Education. OESE is a division of the U.S. Department of Education that helps improve student achievement and educational outcomes in preschool, elementary, and secondary schools.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification Requirements You may meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-15 , if you possess the specialize experience, education, or a combination of the two. Specialized Experience for the GS-15 One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-14 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments: 1. Experience implementing Federal, state, or local education grant program(s), such as those under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), including developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure effective implementation. 2. Experience directing the evaluation and continuous improvement of education programs and using improvement and oversight strategies such as technical assistance, guidance and/or monitoring. 3. Experience supervising or leading employees, including developing, recognizing, supporting, and holding employees accountable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). You do not need to provide separate narrative responses to these KSAs, as they will be measured by your responses to the occupational questionnaire (you may preview the occupational questionnaire by clicking the link at the end of the Evaluations section of this vacancy announcement). 1. Knowledge of Federal, state, or local grants, program management, monitoring, and implementation of policies, regulations, and procedures associated with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). 2. Skill in keeping internal and external customers informed of issues through technical assistance and presentations. 3. Ability to plan, coordinate and lead office functions, such as work assignments, team building and leadership. 4. Ability to direct the development of new procedures or business processes to improve agency or company efficiency and effectiveness.
