Graduate Admissions Coordinator  Salary $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 Annually Location 1200 N Dupont Highway, Dover Job Type Professional Job Number 2025-00395 Division SGAES Opening Date 04/22/2026 DESCRIPTION BENEFITS General Description of the Position Reporting to the Associate Director of Graduation Operations, the incumbent will perform various duties in recruiting and selecting student applicants for admission to the
School of Graduate Adult and Extended Studies:
irregular hours and travel required.
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Essential Functions:
1. Analyze the qualifications of applicants utilizing established Delaware State University admissions standards, guidelines, and criteria, reviewing unusual circumstances with a supervisor as appropriate. 2. Correspond with prospective students, applicants, DSU alumni, academic advisors, and others seeking information on admissions standards, academic and nonacademic programs, and student activities following established procedures and precedents. Maintains working knowledge of international student admissions requirements and coordinates with the International Affairs Officer to facilitate required documents for international students. 3. Prepare and distribute various statistical reports on inquiries and applicants to program staff concerning the status of applicant files. 4. Process and review applications, track down decisions, and update student records in the systems used within Delaware State University. 5. Continuously review open files to facilitate completion. 6. Monitor acceptance and deposit rates for assigned programs. 7. Serve as liaison with the admissions committees for assigned academic programs. 8. Use admissions software to assign and deliver admission-related communications in consultation with the Director of Support Services. 9. Work closely with the Program Director to ensure that Graduate Admissions and each academic program are aware of any status changes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Clearly and persuasively articulate the mission of Delaware State University to prospective students. 2. Present to prospective students about the educational opportunities at Delaware State University. 3. Counsel prospective graduate students regarding admission policies and procedures. 4. Enter appropriate and accurate student information into the corresponding database as needed for all phone, email, and person-to-person communication with prospective students. 5. Responsible for marketing and recruiting events such as information receptions, trade shows, and education fairs. This may involve occasional evening and/or weekend commitments. Qualification Standards 1. Bachelor Degree 2. Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills required 3. Knowledge of all Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher 4. Banner experience will be highly preferred. It also requires a demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently and work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 1. Provide a high level of personalized service to the diverse constituents who inquire with Graduate Admission. 2. Communicate with principals in the Registrar's Office, the Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions Office, the Student Affairs Office, and the Financial Services Office regarding student issues. 3. Greet visitors/guests/students courteously and professionally; determine their needs and provide the appropriate information or direct them to the appropriate person or department.
