APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Responsibilities:

Resident advisors assume the responsibilities involved in supervising DSD School students who, by virtue of their place of residence, remain in the Residence Hall during the week (Monday-Friday).

Resident advisors:

Promote and maintain a home-like environment in an atmosphere which teaches independence, self-help and self-reliance Schedule and supervise student morning routine Supervise overnight monitoring paraprofessionals in their assigned units Teach and monitor health, safety, and personal hygiene Assist overnight monitoring paraprofessionals with students' needs. Regularly check with overnight monitoring paraprofessionals on an hourly basis. Establish and implement effective behavior management procedures Maintain open and effective communication with Lead RA, and Dean of Students. Prepare and maintain necessary reports according to established policies Responds to emergency situations Provide good role modeling for the students Participate in a cooperative team approach in the completion of Resident Hall duties Maintain open and effective communication with school nurse, teaching and related service staff Become knowledgeable of and carry out responsibilities according to school policies and procedures Perform related tasks as assigned by the Dean of Students The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
