No Position Summary St. Petersburg College is seeking a highly analytical and adaptable Functional Analyst to support Student Affairs initiatives through data analysis, system implementations, and AI enabled student engagement. This position supports Student Affairs operations broadly, leveraging enrollment, recruitment, and persistence data to inform strategy and decision¿making. The analyst will play a key role in supporting the implementation of Workday, SPC's future enterprise system, and will serve as a primary provider of curated, validated data used across institutional systems and analytics platforms that support student engagement and service delivery. The Functional Analyst will act as the primary collector, analyst, and presenter of departmental data and will contribute to the oversight and support of Student Affairs systems. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders across the institution, including executive leadership. Experience within a student affairs functional area (e.g., advising, financial aid, admissions, records, etc.) is a benefit but not required.
Responsibilities:
Analyze enrollment, recruitment, application, yield, persistence, and student services data to support enrollment goals, recruitment strategies, pipeline management, and forecasting. Develop and interpret analytics that identify trends, risks, gaps, and opportunities impacting student pipelines, conversion, engagement, and institutional outcomes. Utilize existing Power BI dashboards and reports to translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations for Student Affairs leadership. Prepare executive¿level summaries, reports, and presentations that communicate data insights effectively to technical and non¿technical audiences. Partner with Student Affairs leadership to monitor performance against institutional and departmental goals through timely, accurate data analysis and reporting. Translate enrollment, admissions, and student services business requirements into functional documentation, reports, and analytical outputs. Support ERP transition and optimization efforts, including Workday functional requirements, testing, data conversion, validation, reporting, and post¿implementation analysis impacting Student Affairs. Support data and functional needs for student engagement and service platforms, including analysis of system usage and performance to inform service improvements Pull, validate, and reconcile data across PeopleSoft, Workday, Druid AI, and related Student Affairs systems to ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and integrity Develop and maintain PeopleSoft queries and data extraction tools; apply strong understanding of enterprise systems, databases, reporting tools, and integrations. Independently troubleshoot data, reporting, and system¿related issues while maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism with institutional data. Collaborate with Student Affairs departments, Financial Aid, Admissions & Records, IT, Institutional Research, and other partners to support enrollment strategies, system implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Serve as System Administrator for designated Student Affairs systems.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, data science, accountancy, or a related field; five (5) years of related work experience conducting data analysis, data mining, or data visualization preferably in a higher education and/or institutional research setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Knowledge Knowledge of student lifecycle and student affairs concepts, including recruitment, application processing, enrollment, persistence, and student onboarding. Working knowledge of enterprise student information systems, with demonstrated experience using PeopleSoft and exposure to or experience with Workday or similar platforms. Knowledge of data governance and data management principles, including data integrity, validation, reporting standards, and appropriate use of institutional metrics. Familiarity with AI¿enabled or automated student engagement and service platforms, including interpretation of interaction and usage data, common use cases, and performance measures. Understanding of higher education administrative and student services processes, particularly within Admissions & Records, Financial Aid, and broader Student Affairs operations.
Skills:
Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to extract, clean, validate, and interpret complex datasets. Proficiency interpreting and analyzing data using Power BI dashboards and reports; dashboard design experience is not required. Ability to develop and run PeopleSoft queries or similar data extraction tools; coding or scripting experience preferred. Strong analytical and problem¿solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present data clearly to technical and non¿technical audiences. Strong presentation skills, including preparation of leadership¿ready summaries and executive¿level briefings. Effective organizational and time¿management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functional teams. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, evolving system implementations, and iterative project phases. Ability to serve as a trusted data resource for Student Affairs leadership.
