Job Summary:
The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for directing the daily operation of a housing area (multiple residence halls and/or campus apartments). The essential functions of the position include community building, programming/engagement, crisis intervention, and managing student conduct. This position participates in a team process for selecting and training graduate Hall Directors and student staff. They supervise a graduate Hall Director and undergraduate student staff members (Resident Assistants and Student Desk Assistants). They coordinate living-learning communities, serve on standing committees, and help execute a leadership model and residential curriculum within the halls and apartments. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for the physical management of the facilities in their area and works closely with the maintenance and custodial staff. This is a year-round position and during the summer, serves the department in working with either Camps and Conferences, Orientation, or Summer Student Housing. This position has a live on requirement and provides support and assistance to students through serving in a campus wide duty rotation. While this position does have work autonomy, the Residence Life Coordinator is directly supervised, and works in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Residence Life.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Four years of direct experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Position Qualifications:
Experience building residential communities through leadership, student engagement, and professional communication. The successful candidate will have experience responding to student crises, supervising and developing staff, implementing a residential curriculum and outreach initiatives, and coordinating residence hall operations within a university housing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (or higher) in higher education, counseling, social work, or a related field. Multiple years' experience building residential communities through leadership, student engagement, and professional communication. Has extensive experience responding to multiple types of student crises, supervising and developing staff, creating or modifying a residential curriculum and outreach initiatives, and coordinating residence hall operations within a university housing environment. Has multiple years' experience supervising graduate and undergraduate students.
