33772 ALA accredited Masters required: Yes The Associate Director of Library and Learning Resources provides leadership and oversight for campus academic support services, including libraries, tutoring, and related learning resources. This role manages daily operations, supervises and develops staff, directs key initiatives, and fosters campus and community collaboration to promote student learning and success. The Associate Director ensures that services are aligned with institutional priorities and responsive to the needs of students, faculty, and the community. There are two Associate Director openings in Library and Learning Resources, one at the Seminole Campus and one at the Tarpon Springs Campus. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This position serves as the primary leader for campus-level learning resources, providing direct supervision to campus leads and coordinators while reporting to senior college leadership. The Associate Director applies professional expertise in academic libraries and tutoring services to manage operations, staff performance, and program development, while also representing the department in campus and college initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Leadership & Personnel Management Leads and oversees campus-level academic support services, including libraries, tutoring, and related resources, ensuring effective daily operations, staff supervision, and alignment with institutional priorities. Provides direct supervision to campus leads and coordinators, and mentors department personnel, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Leads recruitment efforts, including job postings, interviews, and selection of candidates in alignment with institutional goals. Conducts regular performance reviews and provides constructive feedback to support staff development. Coordinates staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency. Stays current with emerging trends in teaching, learning technologies, and academic support across all modalities. Oversight & Accountability Direct one or more departmental initiatives/focus areas, as assigned, ensuring effective project management and timely reporting. Manages daily operations of a campus learning center and library. Advocate for learning center and staff participation at campus events and in faculty/staff meetings. Budget & Resource Management Develops and manages the campus learning resources budget in alignment with institutional policies and departmental priorities. Approves and monitors expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility. Analyzes budget needs, prepares justifications, and provides recommendations to senior leadership. Oversees campus-level resource allocation, including staffing, equipment, and facilities. Training & Professional Development Stays current with emerging trends in teaching, learning technologies, and academic support across all modalities. Develop and support professional development and training initiatives to ensure alignment with departmental needs and strategic priorities. Create a welcoming and supportive environment to onboard new employees into the culture of the department and institution. Evaluate and recommend personnel for specific training and professional development opportunities. Campus/Community Collaboration Serve as liaison to joint-use partners and advisory committees to ensure alignment of library services with community and academic needs. Actively participate in campus-wide committees to represent the department and contribute to institutional initiatives. Promote library and learning resources to create student, faculty, and staff awareness to maximize student engagement and success levels.
Education/Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program. Five (5) years of related work experience in an academic library. Three (3) years of supervisory experience in academic libraries. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Academic library operations, tutoring services, and emerging educational technologies. Institutional policies and standards related to higher education learning resources. Principles of budgeting, resource allocation, and fiscal management. Principles of staff supervision, training, and performance management.
Skills in:
Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating staff. Planning, implementing, and assessing programs and services. Developing, managing, and monitoring budgets. Effective communication, collaboration, and relationship building.
Ability to:
Provide collaborative leadership across diverse teams. Manage multiple priorities and campus-level initiatives. Lead project management efforts that support collegewide initiatives. Adapt services and resources to meet evolving student and institutional needs.
